A Venturesome Journey to Lembah Pantai

4th of May marked the date I went to a political ceramah on my own. No one was there to accompany me. My best friend bailed out last minute saying that her parents do not allow her to go. So, I made up my mind and I decided that I should just go there on my own.

First thing that I had to do was to Google the venue. Based on Izzah's Facebook status, there are two venues for the ceramah as the first venue which is Padang Bola Sepak, PPR Kerinchi was taken by UMNO Lembah Pantai although PKR had the permit to use that place. Thus, they last minute change it to a field near SMK Sri Pantai.


So, around 230 pm, it was somehow confirmed that the venue will be at a field behind SMK Sri Pantai. According to the Google Map, I had to get off at University LRT Station and walk for about 10 minutes to the venue. I said to myself, this is the time for you to explore on your own! I mean, you are going to a place based on a map! YOU ACTUALLY READING A MAP! Get it? It was like a great achievement of the day. Thinking that it will be fun and venturesome, I packed my stuffs and set off from the college at 5.

I arrived at Universiti LRT Station around 5:30 pm. I was a bit hesitated and scared at the same time since I am not familiar with the surrounding. It was my first time being there in Kerinchi. I was confused on which street I should walk along since there are so many conjunctions and cars. I took out my phone and forced myself to read the map. According to the map, I have to cross Jalan Kerinchi and walk along Lorong Kerinchi Kiri 2 to Lorong Kerinchi Kiri 1 which will lead to Jalan Kerinchi Kiri, where the school is.

Along the walk, there are so many banners and flags of BN and I passed by PPR Kerinchi, the venue which UMNO Lembah Pantai had set up their tent illegally. Then, i came about SMK Sri Pantai sign board and happy that I am nearing the ceramah site.

This is crazy but I am the only girl, alone, walking along the side with so many male volunteers of PKR, handing out Izzah's posters. I ought to have one but am afraid to bring it back, in case anything happened. I just walk along the road until I found the school BUT it seems that they have changed the venue again. I dont know where but I just walk along, following all the expensive cars with PR flags on them.

Walking alone in the middle of nowhere would probably make you feel sort of insecure and scared yet seeing all the people who are walking towards the ceramah site too, is making me feel safe. A lot of Chinese and Indians were walking too, not to mention the Malays.

After about 15 minutes of walking, I arrived at Bangsar South. Haha. I almost curse because Bangsar South  is so damn near to Kerinchi LRT Station! You just need to walk for 5 minutes across the Federal Highway through the Sky Bridge! @#$%^&* Anyway, it was 6:15 pm and the ceramah has not started. So many people came that day and I almost shed tears seeing Indian reading Harakah, Chinese wearing PAS flag. Subhan-Allah, this is the real perpaduan that we want! We support each other despite of the religions and despite of the races.

It was 7:54 pm according to my watch when Nurul Izzah Anwar arrived. OMG~ Mental breaks down, seeing the Puteri Reformasi for the first time. She is so beautiful when you see her with you own eyes! I was speechless the whole time when she went to the side of the stage where I was. About to shake her hand but she has turned away to the other side of the stage, greeting them. I was disappointed and devastated. What if  I do not have the chance to be that close to her again? She was just 2m or 3m away yet I lost the chance. SCREW ME...

Izzah's talk was very inspirational and FUN... haha.. the sarcastic statements she made had everyone shouts in unison, agreeing to them. Her stage control is good too. She does not focus only to the listeners at the front but at the both sides too. After about 20 - 30 minutes of Izzah's talk, she suddenly stopped and handed the mic to Fahmi Fadzil who is Izzah's new assistant. LOL. I just knew about it few minutes ago.

Then after a few minutes, Anwar Ibrahim made his appearance! He was in a hurry since he had to get BACK to Penang because he still have a couple of ceramah left at Permatang Pauh. OMG, how tiresome that can be? I mean, travelling from another state to another in one night... Damn... I bet Najib never experiences this since he got all the media: Internet, Radio and Tele on his own to campaign all day long. What a shame...

Alas, the event ended around 9 which is actually pretty early for me and it is good since I can go back before the curfew. However, before i go back, I have promised to myself to shake Nurul Izzah's hand. It is once in a life time chance!
